In a recent social media post, former President Donald Trump called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a deal to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, stressing that it was crucial to stop the loss of lives. Trump urged Putin to “make a deal” now, warning that failing to do so would lead to severe economic consequences for Russia.
He stated that if the war continues without a resolution, he would impose high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on Russian goods sold to the United States and other countries involved. Trump emphasized that Russia could settle the conflict “the easy way, or the hard way.”
Trump also mentioned that he plans to meet with Putin in person to discuss the situation but did not specify when the meeting would take place. He noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was open to negotiations, but he expressed uncertainty about whether Putin would agree to the same.
Trump had previously claimed during the ABC News debate in September that he could end the war before even entering office, and had once suggested the conflict could be resolved within 24 hours of his presidency.
