Trump Administration to Launch Homeland Security Task Forces Targeting Undocumented Criminals

Incoming officials announced plans for executive actions to address key policy changes, starting with Homeland Security task forces targeting undocumented gang members and criminals, and reinstating the death penalty for law enforcement officers murdered by undocumented migrants.

One official described the call as a “preview” of actions but did not clarify when all orders would be implemented. Many of these plans, involving international cooperation with Mexico, could lead to legal battles.

A key point of the plan is to end Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies within the federal government. The actions are aimed at ensuring equal treatment and will involve agencies like the Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to dismantle DEI programs, including renamed positions, environmental justice programs, and equity-related grants.

The government also plans a monthly meeting between the Department of Justice and Trump-era agencies to assess further DEI cuts, including eliminating specific programs like FAA recruitment efforts and USDA environmental justice spending.

Though private companies’ DEI policies aren’t immediately targeted, officials hinted at possible future action, saying businesses should “wait and see.”

Other executive actions include recognizing only a person’s gender assigned at birth, ending federal funding for programs that acknowledge people who identify as transgender, and reversing a Biden-era rule allowing Americans to choose an “X” gender marker on passports.

Additionally, the plan will rescind rules requiring schools to protect trans students from harassment to receive federal funds, and mandate single-sex spaces in prisons and shelters based on gender assigned at birth.

The executive orders are expected to have wide-ranging implications, but officials provided few details and did not release the full text of the orders.
