“Luna’s Bills Aim to End Child Sexual Abuse with Tougher Penalties, Including the Death Penalty”

Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has introduced a set of bills in the 119th Congress aimed at imposing severe penalties on individuals convicted of crimes involving children. Two of these bills would mandate the death penalty or life imprisonment for those convicted of a range of child-related offenses, including pedophilia. The third bill would require mandatory minimum sentences of 30 years to life in prison for individuals convicted of rape or sexual abuse against adults.

Luna, who has spoken out about the emotional and long-lasting effects of sexual abuse, explained her stance by stating that such crimes “essentially murder a person’s soul” and leave lasting trauma. She also mentioned discussing the issue with President-elect Donald Trump, who reportedly expressed support for actions against such crimes, though Luna noted that any potential executive order would first need to pass through Congress.

Luna first introduced these bills in the previous Congress, but they did not receive a vote. She remains firm in her belief that individuals who commit such crimes cannot be rehabilitated and should be permanently removed from society.
