The Senate hearings for several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees are scheduled to begin next week. Many of the nominees have already met with senators individually, but now they will face the committees overseeing the agencies they are expected to lead.
The hearings are set to occur in Eastern time and will involve a range of candidates for various departments. For example, Doug Collins, former Georgia congressman, will testify before the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee at 9 a.m. for the Department of Veterans Affairs, while Pete Hegseth, ex-“Fox & Friends” host and Army National Guard veteran, will face questions at 9:30 a.m. for the Department of Defense. Doug Burgum, former North Dakota governor, will appear at 10 a.m. before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for the Interior Department.
Other nominees set to testify include Kristi Noem, governor of South Dakota, for the Department of Homeland Security, and Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general, who will appear twice before the Senate Judiciary Committee for the Justice Department. Sean Duffy, former congressman, is up for the Transportation Department, while John Ratcliffe, former director of national intelligence, will appear for the CIA. Marco Rubio, senator from Florida, is nominated to head the State Department and will also testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Additionally, nominees like Chris Wright for the Energy Department and Russell Vought for the Office of Management and Budget will face separate committees. Some hearings, however, have not yet been scheduled for several of Trump’s other picks, including Lori Chavez-DeRemer for the Labor Department and Tulsi Gabbard for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
