A book that was kept a US state secret for over five decades has now been declassified by the CIA. The work, written by Chan Thomas, presents a shocking conspiracy theory about the planet’s supposed impending destruction. Thomas, a UFO researcher, engineer, and polymath, authored the infamous The Adam and Eve Story.
The CIA had suppressed the book’s publication in 1966, potentially due to fears it might cause mass panic or reveal sensitive government research. Although the CIA declassified parts of it in 2013, the full book was only recently made available.
Thomas, a former US Air Force employee, shared his interpretations of Biblical stories and historical geological events in the book. In the first chapter, titled The Next Cataclysm, he claimed that the Earth faces a catastrophic event every 6,500 years, similar in scope to the Biblical Great Flood. According to his calculations, the next disaster would occur in just over 1,000 years.
Thomas believed that geomagnetic reversal—when the Earth’s poles switch places—would trigger these global catastrophes, causing earthquakes, tsunamis, and extreme weather. While scientists agree that such reversals have occurred in the past, they reject Thomas’s claims that these events could lead to the destruction of humanity.
In the book, Thomas envisioned the catastrophic events decimating cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, followed by devastating tsunamis and earthquakes. The destruction would span seven days, leaving the planet unrecognizable, with new polar locations like the Bay of Bengal at the North Pole.
Despite Thomas’s claims, experts such as Martin Mlynczak from NASA dismiss the theory, calling it bogus and unsupported by scientific evidence. NASA’s analysis indicates no significant changes in Earth’s climate related to past geomagnetic events.
Thomas’s book continues to fuel modern conspiracy theories, but according to experts, his predictions lack any scientific backing.
